Mr. Smirnovs has significant international nuclear fuel industry experience focused on uranium concentrate mining, marketing and trading operations developed through his 10-year career in the industry.

 

Mr. Smirnovs was responsible for uranium production, development, and exploration in nine countries around the world, including Australia, Canada, Kazakhstan, Malawi, Tanzania, and the United States. He was involved in the origination, growth and management of the global nuclear utility order book and spot uranium trading operation through his tenure with Uranium One Inc. based in Toronto, Canada and Lotus Resources based in Perth, Australia. At Uranium One, he helped manage an over $3 billion-valued mine investment portfolio, grow the order book valued at over $1 billion, and refinance over $500 million of debt with listings in Toronto, Luxembourg and Moscow exchanges. At Lotus Resources, Mr. Smirnovs played a central role in the value growth of the Australian exchange listed uranium junior providing for a four-fold market capitalization increase.

 

Most recently, Mr. Smirnovs served as Director of the global mining practice at Pricewaterhousecooper’s Consulting Group. He served as Lotus Resources’ Chief Executive Officer from 2020 to March 2021. He was Uranium One’s Chief Executive Officer from 2016 to June 2019 and Manager of its Corporate Development and Corporate Projects Divisions from 2013 to 2016. Prior to that, he held various senior positions at Royal Bank of Canada’s Strategy and Transformation Group and at KPMG’s Corporate Finance Group.
